about
Paul Rutherford Memorial Concert 24-10-2007
This was recorded at the Red Rose Club, where the orchestra used to play every month.
Paul had died in August of that year.
He was a regular player with the orchestra, and many musicians (38) turned out to show their respects,.

Bought this for John Edwards, one of my favorite bassists, but Sarah Gail Brand is the star. The songs seem to glide between composed and improvised passages with ease. I really enjoy her playing, both intense and subtle, adding bits of texture throughout. The rest of the band is top-notch, goes without saying.
Always happy to find a new (to me) voice in free jazz. arbitify
